Exclaimer Mail Archiver uses a web-site hosted by Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to provide your users with a convenient web-site that allows them to quickly and easily find their archived messages. This is installed on the same computer as the Mail Archiver console. Before you can continue installation you need to follow the steps below to ensure that IIS has the correct components installed to allow the Exclaimer Mail Archiver web-site to work correctly.
There are different steps for each supported Operating System:
Windows 7 x64
1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu
2. Click "Programs and Features"
3. From the left hand pane, click "Turn Windows features on or off"
4. The "Windows Features" dialog appears
5. Place a tick in the checkbox against the "Internet Information Services" feature and ensure the following features are selected for installation:
- Web Management Tools\IIS Management Console
- World Wide Web Services\Application Development Features\ASP.NET
- World Wide Web Services\Application Development Features.NET Extensibility
- World Wide Web Services\Application Development Features\ISAPI Extensions
- World Wide Web Services\Application Development Features\ISAPI Filters
- World Wide Web Services\Common HTTP Features\Static Content
- World Wide Web Services\Common HTTP Features\Default Document
- World Wide Web Services\Common HTTP Features\Directory Browsing

6. Click "OK" to complete the installation
7. If the installer prompts you to restart the computer, you must restart the computer prior to running the Exclaimer Mail Archiver installer
Windows 8 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64
1. Point your mouse to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking "Control Panel" from the Charm bar menu
2. Click "Programs and Features"
3. From the left hand pane, click "Turn Windows features on or off"
4. The "Windows Features" dialog appears
5. Place a tick in the checkbox against the "Internet Information Services" feature and ensure the following features are selected for installation:
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Static Content
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Default Document
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Directory Browsing
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\HTTP Errors
- Web Server\Application Development\ASP.NET 4.5
- Web Server\Application Development.NET Extensibility 4.5
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Extensions
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Filters
- Web Server\Health and Diagnostics\HTTP Logging
- Web Server\Security\Request Filtering
- Web Server\Performance\Static Content Compression
- Management Tools\IIS Management Console
6. Click "OK" to complete the installation
7. If the installer prompts you to restart the computer, you must restart the computer prior to running the Exclaimer Mail Archiver installer
Windows Server 2008 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
1. Launch Server Manager from the Start menu
2. Select "Roles" from the tree on the left
3. Under the section titled "Roles Summary" click the "Add Roles" link
4. The "Add Roles Wizard" appears
5. Click "Next" on the "Before You Begin" page
6. The "Select Server Roles" page appears
7. Place a tick in the checkbox against the "Web Server (IIS)" role and click "Next"
8. Click "Next" on the "Web Server (IIS)" page
9. The "Select Role Services" page appears. Ensure the following components are selected for installation:
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Static Content
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Default Document
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Directory Browsing
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\HTTP Errors
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Extensions
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Filters
- Web Server\Health and Diagnostics\HTTP Logging
- Web Server\Health and Diagnostics\Request Monitor
- Web Server\Security\Request Filtering
- Web Server\Performance\Static Content Compression
- Management Tools\IIS 6 Management Compatibility\IIS 6 Management Console
10. Continue through the wizard accepting default values
11. Click "Finish" to complete the installation
12. If the installer prompts you to restart the computer, you must restart the computer prior to running the Exclaimer Mail Archiver installer
Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2
1. Launch Server Manager from the Start menu
2. Select "Local Server" from the menu on the left
3. Scroll down and locate the section titled "Roles and Features"
4. Click the "Tasks" drop down menu on the right and select "Add Roles and Features"
5. The "Add Roles and Features Wizard" appears
6. Click "Next" on the "Before You Begin" page
7. The "Select Installation" page appears
8. Select "Role-based or feature-installation" and click "Next"
9. The "Select destination server" page appears
10. Select "Select a server the server pool" and ensure your local server is selected from the "Server Pool" and click "Next"
11. The "Select server roles" page appears
12. Place a tick in the checkbox against the "Web Server (IIS)" role
13. Expand the "Web Server (IIS)" node and ensure the following components are selected for installation:
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Static Content
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Default Document
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\Directory Browsing
- Web Server\Common HTTP Features\HTTP Errors
- Web Server\Application Development\ASP.NET 4.5
- Web Server\Application Development.NET Extensibility 4.5
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Extensions
- Web Server\Application Development\ISAPI Filters
- Web Server\Health and Diagnostics\HTTP Logging
- Web Server\Security\Request Filtering

14. Continue through the wizard accepting default values
15. Click "Finish" to complete the installation
