How to move your Archive Store and Index location

Scenario 

During the life of your archive, you may wish to move the Store and Index to larger or faster media.

This article consists of the following sections:

• Steps on how to move both Store and Index.
• Steps on how to move the Store only.
• Steps on how to move the Index only.

Resolution

Moving both Store and Index

To move both Store and Index:

1. Open the Mail Archiver.
   
   
2. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under Settings tab, uncheck the Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
   
   
   
   
3. Save the console.
   
   
4. Navigate to your current store location.
   You can find this in the Mail Archiver console; click Storage then click the required storage name. On the right-hand side pane, select the Data tab.
   
   
   
   
5. Highlight the folder that matches the name of your store and copy it.
   
   
6. Navigate to the new location for your store and paste the folder.
   
   
   
   
7. Once the copy process is complete, click Storage then click on the required Storename.
   On the right-hand side pane, select the Data tab.
   
   
   
   
8. Click Change Location next to the store location.
   
   
9. Browse to the new location and click Select Folder.
   
   
   
   The Exclaimer Console message window is displayed.
   
   
   
   
10. Click OK.
    
    
11. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under the Settings tab, check Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
    
    
    
    
    
12. Save the console.

Your Store and Index are now running in the new location.

Moving the Store Only

To move the Store only:

1.  Open the Mail Archiver.
   
   
2. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under the Settings tab, uncheck Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
   
   
   
   
3. Save the console.
   
   
4. Navigate to your current store location.
   
   
5. Highlight all folders apart from the Index folder and copy them to the new location.
   
   
6. Once the copy process is complete, click Storage then click the required storage name. On the right-hand side pane, select the Data tab.
   
   
   
   
7. Click Change Location next to the store location.
   
   
8. Browse to the new location and click Select Folder.
   
   The Exclaimer Console message window is displayed.
   
   
   
   
9. Click OK. 
   
   You will notice that you now have a separate location for your Index.
   
   
10. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under the Settings tab, check Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
    
    
    
    
11. Save the console.

Your Store is now in the new location with the Index in the old location.

Moving the Index Only

To move the index only:

1. Open the Mail Archiver.
   
   
2. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under Settings tab, uncheck the Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
   
   
   
   
3. Save the console.
   
   
4. Navigate to your current store location.
   
   
5. Highlight the Index folder and copy it to the new location.
   
   
6. Once the copy process is complete, click Storage then click on the required Storename.
   On the right-hand side pane, select the Data tab. 
   
   
   
   
7. Click Change Location next to the Index location.
   
   
8. Browse to the new location and click Select Folder.
   
   
9. Click on the Mail Archiver node. On the right-hand side pane, under Settings tab, check the Enable Journal Mailbox Importing.
   
   
   
   
10. Save the console.

Your Index is now running in the new location.
