Resolution
There are known issues regarding DFS shares, these are also listed in the Signature Manager Outlook Edition release notes. Due to the below limitations, we do not recommend that DFS shares be used for the deployment folder in Signature Manager Outlook Edition.
Known issues
- Unable to determine Share and Security permissions on a DFS namespace share running in Windows Server 2008 mode.
- Security permissions are not applied correctly if the Deployment share is on a DFS namespace on Server 2008 but running in 2000 mode.
Server 2008 mode
If the DFS namespace is a Domain-based namespace running in Server 2008 mode, it is expected that an error message will appear when running Signature Manager Outlook Edition.
Example of the Server 2008 Mode running Signature Manager Outlook Edition:
The error should not affect the functionality of Signature Manager Outlook Edition.
Server 2000 mode
If the Domain-based namespace is running in Server 2000 mode, the NTFS security permissions will not be able to be configured automatically when running the first use wizard or Signature Manager Outlook Edition console.
