Scenario
You are using Exclaimer Auto Responder and wish to migrate the product to a new Microsoft Exchange server.
Resolution
Solutions vary, depending on whether the Microsoft Exchange servers are in the same Active Directory forest or not:
- Microsoft Exchange servers are in the same Active Directory forest
- Microsoft Exchange servers are NOT in the same Active Directory forest
Microsoft Exchange servers are in the same Active Directory forest
If the Microsoft Exchange servers are in the same Active Directory forest, you can either:
- Configure the built-in Remote Deployment feature to deploy the configuration from the old server to the new one.
For further information, see Remote Deployment - Configuration Synchronisation.
- or -
- Manually export the configuration from the old server to the new one. You will find Export and Import options in the Exclaimer console for your product, in the Actions pane.
When you export and then import your configuration, the entire configuration is migrated, including the license.
You can download the latest version from here: Auto Responder
When you upgrade to a later version, the entire configuration is retained - no reboot is required but the Microsoft Exchange Transport service will be restarted.
Microsoft Exchange servers are NOT in the same Active Directory forest
If the new Microsoft Exchange server is in a new Active Directory forest, manual configuration is required.
You can export and import templates from the old installation, however other configurations (for example, policies) must be re-created manually.
