Scenario
A user has left the organization. The user mailbox and email aliases have been deleted from the Microsoft Exchange organization. You require that any senders who send a message to the deleted user to receive an auto-response that the user no longer works here.
Resolution
The Microsoft Exchange categorizer will identify if the recipient address exists in the organization before the message is processed by the Exclaimer Auto Responder Routing Agent. And so Microsoft Exchange will send a non-delivery report to the sender.
To prevent this behaviour, the user’s email alias will be required to exist in the organization. This could be an alias to another Microsoft Exchange mailbox or contact etc.
